The Climate Camp Chittagong project, jointly implemented by The Earth and OAB Foundation, was designed to strengthen climate change awareness and environmental responsibility among school students and local communities in Chattogram. Recognizing the increasing vulnerability of coastal regions to climate impacts such as rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and environmental degradation, the project aimed to build knowledge, resilience, and community engagement at the grassroots level. The initiative brought together students, teachers, youth volunteers, and community members through a series of interactive workshops, climate camps, and community outreach sessions. These activities were designed to be participatory and engaging, allowing participants to explore key topics such as the causes and consequences of climate change, local environmental challenges, and practical solutions for sustainable living. Special emphasis was placed on connecting global climate issues with local realities in Chattogram, helping participants better understand how climate change directly affects their lives and livelihoods. In schools, the project conducted awareness sessions using interactive methods such as group discussions, quizzes, storytelling, and hands-on activities. These sessions encouraged students to think critically, ask questions, and actively engage in environmental problem-solving. At the community level, outreach programs and discussions were organized to involve local residents, raising awareness about climate risks and promoting sustainable practices such as waste reduction, energy conservation, and ecosystem protection. The project also focused on developing leadership and advocacy skills among participants. Students and youth were encouraged to become climate ambassadors, sharing knowledge within their families and communities and inspiring others to adopt environmentally friendly behaviors. By fostering a sense of responsibility and collective action, the initiative aimed to create a ripple effect of awareness and positive change. Overall, the Climate Camp Chittagong project contributed to building a more informed, engaged, and climate-conscious community. By empowering both students and local residents with knowledge and practical tools, the project supported the vision of a greener, more sustainable, and climate-resilient Chattogram.
