Child Safe Steps: School Awareness Campaign

On 18 February, OAB Foundation, an organization working toward the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), successfully conducted a school-based awareness campaign titled “Child Safe Steps” at Hakkani Mission Bidyapith & College, Mirpur, Dhaka. The campaign engaged Grade 5 students through interactive and informative sessions aimed at promoting child safety, health awareness, and rights-based understanding. The overall briefing of the program was delivered by Md. Shahanur Alam, Co-Lead, Program & Logistics. The session on Health and Hygiene, conducted by Fowjia Fariha, Member of OAB Foundation, focused on the importance of personal cleanliness, proper handwashing techniques, and building healthy daily habits. The session emphasized that health awareness is the foundation of a safe and secure future. The Good Touch and Bad Touch session, facilitated by Progya, highlighted how children can identify safe and unsafe touch, practice self-protection strategies, and confidently say “no” in uncomfortable situations. Students were encouraged to speak up and share their concerns with trusted adults instead of remaining silent. In the Human Rights-Based Approach (HRBA) session, Maimuna Rahman, Coordinator of Dhaka Division, educated students about their fundamental rights, including the right to education, safety, equality, and respect. The session also promoted values such as responsibility, non-discrimination, and mutual respect among children. Through this campaign, OAB Foundation reaffirmed its strong commitment to nurturing a safe, aware, and rights-conscious generation. By equipping children with essential knowledge and life skills, the initiative contributes to building a more protective and inclusive environment for their growth and development.
