A participatory awareness activity titled “Renewable Energy River Action” was organized at Jatrapur Char in Kurigram on 29 September 2026 as part of the Renewables Now campaign.
The activity was jointly organized by OAB Foundation and Dhoritri Rokhhay Amra (DHORA) with the aim of increasing awareness among riverine communities about renewable energy, clean energy, environmental protection, and sustainable development.
As part of the activity, local community members participated in an awareness campaign along the riverbank, displaying various messages and placards highlighting the importance of renewable energy and clean energy use. The messages also focused on environmental protection and the need for greater public awareness to address the impacts of climate change.
The initiative recognized the close relationship between rivers, the environment, and the livelihoods of river-dependent communities. By taking the awareness activity directly to the riverbank and involving local people, the organizers sought to communicate the importance of clean and sustainable energy in an accessible and participatory way.
During the activity, awareness messages were shared on the need to expand the use of renewable energy, the environmental impacts of fossil fuels, and the importance of ensuring a clean and sustainable environment for future generations.
The activity also highlighted that the transition to renewable energy is not only about electricity generation. It is closely connected with environmental protection, addressing climate risks, and advancing sustainable development. Alongside national policy initiatives, awareness and participation at the community level can play an important role in supporting the wider adoption of renewable energy.
The riverbank-based campaign placed particular emphasis on direct community participation. Local people were encouraged not only to engage with the awareness messages but also to share knowledge about clean energy and environmental protection with their families and surrounding communities.
The activity further highlighted the potential of renewable energy, including solar power, to expand access to cleaner energy while contributing to environmental protection and a more sustainable energy future.
The “Renewable Energy River Action” initiative brought together the interconnected themes of rivers, environment, climate, and renewable energy, while emphasizing the importance of collective community action in building an environmentally sustainable future.
The activity was facilitated by Md. Azmain Islam, Rangpur Divisional Coordinator of OAB Foundation. He engaged with local community members and shared awareness messages on renewable energy, the importance of clean energy, environmental protection, and meaningful community participation in local climate and sustainability initiatives.
As part of the Renewables Now campaign, OAB Foundation and DHORA are continuing efforts to engage local communities through awareness activities on renewable energy and environmental protection. Strengthening community awareness and participation is an important part of building collective action towards a cleaner and more sustainable future.
