OAB Foundation participated in a human chain held on 16 October 2026 in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka, ahead of the IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings. Led by Dhora (DHORA) and Waterkeepers Bangladesh, the initiative brought together 36 civic and social organisations to call for global economic equality, protection of workers’ rights, fair compensation for climate-related loss and damage, and increased investment in renewable energy.
OAB Foundation President Asaduzzaman Tohin attended a public gathering as a special guest in Mongla, calling for the expansion of renewable energy in coastal areas, improved energy security, and the protection of the Sundarbans and its biodiversity. The gathering highlighted the importance of a science-based, inclusive, and community-centred energy transition that safeguards local livelihoods and coastal ecosystems.
OAB Foundation’s Chattogram Team celebrated Global Handwashing Day with children at Al-Amin Child Academy through interactive sessions on climate awareness, handwashing, health and hygiene, and dengue prevention. The programme aimed to promote healthy habits, strengthen environmental awareness, and equip children with practical knowledge to protect their health and well-being.
Md Didarul Islam, Deputy Head of Fundraising at OAB Foundation, led and facilitated the Youth Policy Workshop on Renewable Energy and Just Energy Transition on 8 October 2026. Jointly organised by Shurjodoy Youth Society and Just Energy Transition Network Bangladesh (JETnet-BD), the workshop engaged young people in reviewing renewable energy policies, identifying policy gaps, and developing youth-led demands for an inclusive and equitable energy transition in Bangladesh.
As part of the Renewables Now campaign, OAB Foundation and DHORA organised the Renewable Energy Debate Competition 2026 in Rangpur on 8 October 2026, in collaboration with Begum Rokeya University Debate Association (BRUDA). The competition brought together young people to discuss renewable energy transition, climate justice, climate finance, energy security, and the challenges of achieving a sustainable energy future.
OAB Foundation has formalised an organisational collaboration with Youth 4 Fair City (Y4FC) and Torongo Foundation through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The partnership aims to advance urban justice, youth leadership, climate resilience, inclusive urban governance, and sustainable urban development in Bangladesh.
