"As part of the Renewables Now campaign, OAB Foundation and DHORA organised the Renewable Energy Debate Competition 2026 in Rangpur on 8 October 2026, in collaboration with Begum Rokeya University Debate Association (BRUDA). The competition brought together young people to discuss renewable energy transition, climate justice, climate finance, energy security, and the challenges of achieving a sustainable energy future."
The Renewable Energy Debate Competition 2026, titled “Renewables Now | The Future of Renewable Energy,” was held in Rangpur on 8 October 2026 as part of the Renewables Now campaign. Organised by OAB Foundation and Dhora (DHORA), in collaboration with Begum Rokeya University Debate Association (BRUDA), the event provided a platform for young people to exchange ideas, analyse critical energy challenges, and present evidence-based arguments on the future of renewable energy.
The debate addressed important questions concerning the responsibilities of developed countries in financing the renewable energy transition in developing nations, as well as the possibilities and challenges of reducing dependence on fossil fuels and moving towards 100% renewable energy.
Through structured arguments, evidence, and counterarguments, participants explored the realities of the energy transition, climate finance, energy security, and environmentally responsible development. The competition encouraged critical thinking, constructive dialogue, research-based reasoning, and greater awareness of the role renewable energy can play in addressing climate change.
The event also highlighted the importance of youth participation in shaping public discussions on energy policy and sustainable development. By creating opportunities for young people to express their perspectives and engage with complex policy questions, the competition contributed to strengthening youth voices in the transition towards a cleaner and more equitable energy system.
OAB Foundation and its partners remain committed to promoting renewable energy awareness, climate justice, and youth-led initiatives that support a sustainable future for Bangladesh.
Let youth voices and arguments advance the cause of clean energy and help build a fair, environmentally responsible, and sustainable future.
