Char Children in Lalmonirhat

On 24 January 2026, a special climate awareness session was jointly organized by Rangpur Bondhushova and OAB Foundation at Alor Pathshala, located in Harinchora Majher Char, Lalmonirhat. The initiative aimed to raise awareness among children living in climate-vulnerable char (river island) communities. The session covered topics such as environmental protection, climate change, river erosion, flooding, and their direct impact on daily life. Through simple, practical, and interactive discussions, children were encouraged to actively participate, ask questions, and share their experiences. Visual examples and real-life scenarios were used to help them better understand the causes and consequences of climate change, along with possible actions they can take. According to Azmain Islam, Disaster and Relief Secretary of Rangpur Bondhushova, children in char areas are among the most affected by climate change, and raising their awareness is a key priority. He emphasized that such sessions will inspire children to play an active role in protecting the environment in the future. The session was attended by OAB Foundation volunteers Sultana Rumpa and Nipa Moni, along with Azmain Islam, Disaster and Relief Secretary of Rangpur Bondhushova, and teachers Amzadul Islam and Azam Mia from Alor Pathshala. OAB Foundation believes that informed and aware children today will become responsible guardians of a safer and more sustainable environment tomorrow.
