OAB Foundation, a youth-led non-profit organization, successfully organized an advocacy meeting on sustainable waste management with homeowners from the local housing society in the Ansar Camp area of Mirpur-1, Dhaka, on 28 July 2026. The meeting was arranged to raise awareness about the growing environmental and public health challenges caused by unplanned waste disposal, excessive use of polythene, and the lack of proper waste management systems in urban communities. During the session, participants discussed the importance of source-level waste segregation, reducing single-use polythene, and adopting environmentally friendly waste management practices to build cleaner and healthier neighborhoods. As part of the awareness campaign, OAB Foundation encouraged every household to use two separate waste bins: **Green Bin:** For biodegradable and organic waste. Red (or Other Colored) Bin: For plastic, polythene, and other non-biodegradable waste. Participants learned that separating waste at its source makes recycling more effective, reduces environmental pollution, and contributes to creating cleaner and more sustainable residential communities. The programme also emphasized that environmental protection is a shared responsibility. Through individual awareness, community participation, and responsible waste management practices, everyone can contribute to building a greener, cleaner, and more livable Bangladesh. The advocacy meeting was implemented under Project GOLD, organized by OAB Foundation, with support from Global Platform Bangladesh, reaffirming the organization's commitment to environmental sustainability, responsible waste management, and community-driven climate action.
